About the project
Buffalo Creek Reservoir
In the summer of 2025-2026, Freestone will be reconstructing an existing dam that is leaking onto USFS land. Due to the leak, the entire dam face is to be removed and replaced with a double layered liner system which includes a Geosynthetic Bentonite liner overtopped with a PVC liner membrane. The project will ultimately result in the excavation and placement of over 100,000 yards of native material, 20,000 yards of rip rap, and the installation of over 14 acres of liner material. The dam project will also include the replacement of all spillway and outlet works features along with the installation of automated outlet works control features, monitoring wells, and an outlet works pipeline. These improvements will restore the structural integrity of the dam, eliminate seepage onto adjacent USFS lands, and provide long-term, reliable water storage that meets modern safety and operational standards.
